Louisville Covers Christmas Album benefits Star Duck Charities and St. Joe’s

This Man Records, run by Timothy Sauer, has brought many from the Louisville music community together to record a really great album of Christmas music.  In keeping with the holiday spirit, Tim chose to donate the proceeds from album sales to Starduck Charities.

We’re thrilled and humbled.  We plan to use the proceeds the same way we use 100% of our donations: working directly with the kids at St. Joseph’s Children’s Home.  This money will help fund our birthday program (in it’s 8th year), our seasonal outings with the children, our holiday on-campus parties, and our commitment to help fill any other material need they require of us.

Pick up a copy of the record at Guestroom Records, Better Days Records East, Matt Anthony’s Record Shop, Block Party, and Revelry.

First Annual Halloween Party

For the first time the St. Joe’s administration asked Star Duck to host its annual Halloween Party for the kids at St. Joe’s. Accepting the challenge, Star Duck converted the Home’s gymnasium kitchen into a lengthy haunted house complete with monsters, black lights, fog and terrifying sounds. We got a great response from the kids all of whom made several trips through the haunted kitchen. Outside the haunted kitchen treats were given out and tunes were played by a professional DJ.

Star Duck would like to express their gratitude to Germantown’s Eiderdown Restaurant who graciously sponsored the party. Star Duck would also like to thank Louisville’s Microsoft Store whose employees volunteered their time.

Shoe and Swimsuit Drives

March and April proved to be busy months indeed! In addition to the largest birthday party yet, Star Duck was able to purchase a pair of new shoes, a new swimsuit, and a pair of swimming goggles for each of the 40 kids at St. Joseph Children’s Home. Funds for the shoes and jeans were raised during our December benefit concert. Special thanks to Sara and Kevin Glogower who helped contribute to the purchase of swimsuits and goggles. An additional thank you to Sara Collins who has graciously committed to future fundraising endeavors.
